CHILD DROWNED IN WELL
FATALITY AT MATAKARAPA A four-year-old child, Ngahana McGregor, met its death at Matakarapa yesterday afternoon as a result of drowning in a well. The child, with three others, rvas left in the care of its grandmother while the father was absent at Rangiotu. During' the afternoon the grandmother took the children to the top of a sandhill on Matakarapa and returned home ahead of them. Later she noticed that the child was missing and asked flic others where the child was, and was informed that the little boy was in the well. She hurried to the waterholo and found the body floating in the water supported by a plank. When the body was recovered, however, life was fount! to be extinct.
The well was not a deep one, being an old tank let down into 1!k“ ground.
