, NYE FERNS MATCH. The first game of the season for .the Nyff Ferns was played yesterday afternoon between two rinks drawn from the hat, in accordance with the rales governing these trophies. Mattar’s rink were the holders of the Ferns at the close of last season..
The teams selected by ballot yesterday were as follow: J. Francis, Mail’s, Scadden, Jno. Ross (s); Eruera, 'Chalk, Robinson. B. Hinds (s). A very good game resulted in a win for Hinds by a, margin of five points, the scores being 21—16/
Terrace End green will be»officially opened on Saturday. One rink will be present from Foxton Club.
On Monday next (Labour Day) Shannon Club hold their opening ceremony. One rink from Foxton will be present.
