CHURCH ARMY MISSION

The Church Army Mission was brought to a conclusion at All Saints’ Church on Sunday. The church was full for the Family Service at 11 o’clock when the children sang hymns and choruses which had been learned at the Children’s Services during the week. The address on “Secret Societies” was calculated to teach the young people present a true appreciation, of the great Christian Society which they had joined at their Baptism. After the Family Service a. celebration of the Holy Communion was held and a large number made it an occasion of special thanksgiving for help received through the Mission. In the afternoon a well attended Men’s Service was held and the talk by ‘Captain Beck, based on his experiences as a social worker in English Prisons, was greatly appreciated by those present.

.The final service of the Mission found the Church crowded to the doors and the Missioner’s address was a simple appeal to those present to witness to the Faith which was in them. A number of the congregation came forward and accepted cards in token of help received and resolutions made during the Mission. An after-Church evangelistic meeting was largely attended by members of the various Churches in Foxton, and during the course of it many expressed their gratitude for what the Mission had meant to them.

It is impossible to sum up with any accuracy the effect of a Mission in any community; it is concerned mainly with the inner life of men and women, hut the manner in which members of all religious denominations participated in the Church Army Mission and received benefit from it was a great testimony to the unity of the Church in the "big fundamental things of religion.
