DEATH OF DR. BRYSON
WHILE DRTVTNG A MOTOR CAR. While motoring from Levin toOtaki on Saturday morning, Dr. Robert Bryson, of Wellington, died suddenly. He stopped at the roadside to assist another motorist to jack up bis car, and bad only travelled a short distance further in his own car when he collapsed and died. He was about 57 years of age. Dr. Bryson was travelling- to the Otaki races with Mrs Harry George, of Levin, shortly before noon, and they were about three miles on the south side of Levin when Dr. Bryson’s car swerved off the road to the right, having passed another car, and descended into a ditch. It then climbed up the other side of the hollow, turned to the loft and ran along a fence for abont 20 yards, before it. was stoplied, Mrs George having managed to apply the brakes. She then undid the doctor’s collar, believing that he had fainted, hut on the arrival of the occupants of the ear following, it was found that he was dead.
It is understood that Dr. Bryson had been suffering from heart trouble for some years, and that an inquest will not be necessary. Dr. Bryson had been in practice in Wellington for about eight years, having previously been at Levin for a number of years. For some years.he had specialised in anaesthesia and for about five years had been an anaesthetist at the Wellington Hospital. He is survived by bis wife, Dr. Elizabeth Bryson, and two children, a. son and daughter.
