PRISONERS’ SENTENCED.
AT PALMERSTON SUPREME
COURT SITTINGS
The following prisoners were sentenced ati yesterday's sitting of the Supreme Court at Palmerston N. by Mr. Justice McGregor. Charles Norman, aged 30 years, of Levin, convicted by the jury of assaulting two young 1 people in the Levin Domain on New Year’s morning, causing them actual bodily
harm, and who was also found gnflty on the charge of stealing a car battery at Levin between December 24 and 28 last, the Judge made special mention about the accused’s mental condition. Accused was sentenced to 'l2 months’ detention for reformative treatment on each charge, these to be concurrent. His Honour remarked that the prisoner would he kept under medical supervision. Victor James Jameson, aged 37, described as a motor driver, who was found guilty on charges of theft: (1) at Whakaronga, between August 9 and 11, of clothes and a motor driver’s license; (2) goods valued at £llO at Marion on September 27; and (3) drums of benzolene valued at £4 11/6 at Marton, between September 29 and October 3. Sentenced to twelve months’ imprisonment on each charge, to he cumulative, and he will be declared an habitual criminal.
Barney Vincent Reardon, a labourer, aged 25, found guilty of breaking and entering on October 30 and stealing goods to the value of £l3O. He admitted his previous convictions and was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment with hard labour, the sentences to lie concurrent.
Thomas Frederick Ellis, a labmrer, who had been found guilty on two charges of issuing valueless •lieques at Marion on December 6 last. His Honour imposed a sentence of two years’ imprisonment on [■aeh count, to be concurrent, and leelared Ellis an habitual criminal.
