PARLIAMENT

NEXT SESSION, SEPTEMBER. 22,

At the conclusion of a lengthy Cabinet meeting on Thursday evening, the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, ’announced that the next session of Parliament would open on Thursday, September 22nd. Cabinet has been engaged for some time upon the preparation of legislation to (be brought down next session, and it is anticipated that a fairly large amount of work will be presented to Parliament. Mr. Forbes said that although it was not considered there would be any further need for emergency legislation, the Government would introduce several measures whose appearance had been delayed on account of the recent pressure of business. He thought there would be enough business to keep Parliament occupied for about three months, although the Govei’nment was hopeful that the session would be brought to an end before Christmas.
