The New Plymouth golf professional, Mr. John Lambie, while playing at Rotorua last week did a hole in one, the ball dropping in without touching the green. The New Plymouth man was playing in a four-ball and hit a No. 3 iron shot to the 160-yard seventeenth hole. It was a high (ball, and those on the tee heard a metallic click as it landed fairly in the hole on the full, but they hardly realised what had happened until the greenkceper, who had been working on the green, signalled excitedly to them. The penalty that tradition demands was paid willingly.
