Walter Huston, recognised as one of the most accomplished actors on the screen, contributes another virile characterisation in Universal’s swift-moving drama, “A House Divided,” which comes to the Town Hall to-night. In this picture Huston is §een as a brutal, tyrannical fisherman of the North Pacific coast, fighting against the pounding sea and his peace-loving neighbours with equal abandom and finally brought to the height of emotional rage when he discovers that his new mail-order bride has fallen in love with his own son. The fact that the son reciprocates the affection of the young girl aids in bringing about a situation which is filled with dramatic intensity. Buston’s characterisation since making his screen debut in “Gentlemen of the Press” have been of infinite variety, ranging from Western bad men to Abraham Lincoln in D. W. Griffith’s recent production dealing with the life of the cx-President. Helen Chandler and Kent Douglass are featured with Huston in “A House Divided,” which was directed by AVilliam, Wyler and based on an original story by Olive Edens. Also to-night, a Daphne Pollard comedy, “Monkey Shines,” Oswald Cartoon, “The Clown,” and 2 Graham AfeNamee News reels.
