HIMATANGI HIGHWAY.

The contractors experienced trouble Avith the plant earlier in the Aveek Avhieh has caused a slight hold-up in the Himatangi highway work. T'he seat of the trouble was in [the furnace, but it was not long before repairs were effected. Work is proceeding apace and the liighAvay has been completed for a considerable distance past the Motuiti railway station. The ManaAvatu Comity Council gang is still engaged in preparation Avork. A rumour has been current locally that a tender, had been accepted fo'r sealing the Himatangi Rangiotu portion of the Main Highway, but Mr. W. E. Barber (chairman of the ManaAvatu County Council) states that there is no truth in the rumour. He added that nothing could be done in this connection until after the end of the tinancial year, but the Council Avas very anxious and doing its best to have all its highways sealed as expeditiously as possible.
