HEMP MARKET.

FEBRUARY GRADING RETURNS. The grading returns for hemp, tow, stripper tow and stripper slips for the month of February have been issued by the. Department of Agriculture as follows: — Ports G.F. TI.F. L.F. C. Auckland 11 101 107 1 Wellington Foxton Picton 22 20 20 Dunedin 10 48 2 Bluff 0 120 31 Lyttelton Waikuku Eight Ibales at Auckland, 14 at Wellington, and four at Foxton were rejected. The number of bales in each grade Avas as follows, the number for the corresponding period of last year being given in parenthesis: — Good fair 52 (557), high fair 308 (3002), loav fair 504 (1063), common 130 (063), rejected 20 (431), condemned nil (5), a total of 1110 bales as against '6021 bales graded the same period last year, a decrease of 5511 bales. The number of bales graded at each port was: —Auckland 318, Wellington 215, Foxton 10, Picton 71, Dunedin 60, Bluff 169, Lyttelton 157, Waikuku 92. 'The folloAving shows the detailed particulars of the toAV graded:— Ports Ist 2nd 3rd Auckland 4 46 24 Wellington Picton Bluff Dunedin Waikuku Ten bales at Auckland were condemned. 'The following shoAvs the number of bales in each grade, the number for the corresponding period of last year being given in parenthesis: —Ist grade 4 (105), 2nd grade 207 (1346), 3rd grade 74 (475), condemned 10 (85), a total of 295 bales as against 2011 bales graded the same period last year, n decrease of 1716 bales. The number of bales graded at each port Avas : —Auckland 84, Wellington 43, Picton .32, Bluff 74, Dunedin 30, Waikuku 32. Stripper Toav: —There was no return for stripper toAV for the month. Stripper Slips: —Four bales at the Bluff and 12 hales at Dunedin were graded 2nd grade. The total number graded was 16 bales as against 176 bales graded the same period last year, a decrease of 160 bales.
