AN INTERESTING LECTURE.
The Rev. R. B. Gosnell’s lantern lecture on “Tutankhamen and Early Egypt” on Thursday' evening last drew a large attendance and was much enjoyed. With the aid of some 80 slides, the lecturer took his audience on an imaginary trip to Egypt and more especially to the Valley of the Kings. Arrived at the latter place, those present were privileged to look on a vivid representation of Tutankhamen, the youthful king whose mummified body was brought to light by Mr Howard Carter and his company, gazed on for a few moments, and then sealed up for ever. This picture of the casket and the onlookers gazing at it down in the bowels of the earth, gave a better idea than any words could have done of a most| dramatic happening.
At the close of the lecture, a very hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Gosnell on the motion of Mr L. Bullard, seconded by Mr Murray, for his most informative address. A liberal offering was received on behalf of Home Missions. The lecture was repeated last evening at Shannon.
