BOWLING.
The official opening of the Manawatu Club’s green took plaee yestei - day afternoon, when visiting‘bowlers were present from Feilding, Terrace End, Fox ton and Palmerston North. The president of the Club (Mr C. F. Spooner) welcomed the visitors, and Mrs Spooner played the first bowl. The visitors were very hospitably treated, and spent a most enjoyable afternoon. The following are the teams and scores in the gaities in which the Foxton players took part:— D. Whibley Childs Uoore Fletcher Woods Tattersall Nye (s) 2G ,Dixon (s) 9 _ Parkin Bothell Freeman Hogg Drake • - Monllin Bryant (s) 12 Fustier (s) 2-1 The Shannon green was also opened yesterday afternoon, but on account of the bad weather conditions intending visitors were notified by the Club there that it would be unwise to fnake the trip. The weather, however, cleared in the afternoon, and the Shannon players were aide to have a game. It was the intention of the Foxton Club to lie represented by two rinks, hut when the message was received from Shannon not to go, the players decided to-put in the afternoon on the local green.
