LORD KITCHENER.
Sydney, January 6. Lord Kitchener visited the Liverpool camp where nearly 5000 of various arms are under canvas. He spent the day on horseback, and made a comprehensive inspection of the troops, watching the manoeuvres of attacking and defending columns. Lord Kitchener upset the preparations for elaborate manoeuvres at Liverpool to-day by issuing new orders at two o’clock this morning. SENSATIONAL ACCIDENT. Sydney, Jan. 7. A sensational accident occurred in the camp at the close of yesterday’s operations. A Colt gun was being cleansed when it discharged a bullet, which passed through a tent, killed a horse, aud then struck Mr Somerville, a Daily Telegraph reporter, who was standing 100 yards away. It hit him in the leg and inflicted a bad flesh wound. He was removed to the hospital. Lord Kitchener, while at Newcastle, informed the Consul for Chili that he would like to visit that country to see the Trans Andean Railway. Fie wished to know if the Chilian Government would send a warship to Tahiti to meet him. The Counsul undertook to ascertain if this could be done. Lord Kitchener expects to finish his tour of New Zealand on March 2nd, and thence proceeds via Honolulu to Tahiti.
