The French police have warned the St. Petersburg Bureau that dangerous Anarchists are arriving in Russia, with intent to blow up the Czar because no amnesties have been grab ted in honour of his daughter's wedding. The majority of the Anarchists have been discharged, as it was not proved that they belonged to any criminal society. Two were ecnvicted of robbery and sentenced to eight and fifteen years respectively. Owing to the opposition displayed by the Sugar Trust the Democratic caucus agreed to the Senate's Tariff Bill, and the House of Representa» tives subsequently passed the Senate's Bill by 182 to 106. Wool remains on the free list. The House passed a separate Bill placing coal and iron on the free list. It is estimated that the Tariff Bill reduces the duties by an average of 16 per cent.

The Kaffirs in Zoutspanberg are again in revolt, and are attacking Agatha. Troops have been sent to repel them.
