McKenzie. The Minister for Labour proposed the second reading of the Industrial Conciliation Bill. He said that the measure was in many respects similar to that of last year. He explained the new points of the Bill, details affecting the labour organisations, and pointed out that they did not alter the general principle of the measure. After a discussion in which the Hon W. Rolleston declared that the Bill struck at the root of industry, and threw back the cause of labour, and the conciliation which be and others desired so much to see. The second reading was carried. The Premier moved the second reading of the Distress for Rent Abolition Bill, by which a landlord is placed on a similar footing to other creditors. After a discussion the debate was adjourned.
