, The restaurant m Paris kept by M. Very, who wa3 chief witness against Ravachal has been wrecked by dynamite. Bishop Turinaz, of Nancy, has issued, a violently worded pamphlet declaring that the slavery to which the Church has been subjected since the Republic was established is be- | coming intolerable. The United States Senate has rejected the new Chinese Exclusion Bill,, and continues the present law instead for ten years. Ravachal was tried on the 26th After the trial had commenced Ravachal, with the utmost coolness, informed the Magistrate that he was guilty of the charges brought against him, adding that he personally loaded and deposited the bombs, and that the outrages were intended to strike terror among the citizens, and to draw the attention of the public to the wrongs suffered by the lower classes in France. Simon, one of Ravachol's accomplices, also admitted his guilt, but the others tried to exculpate themselves at the expense of their chief. The Judge seutenced each of them to imprisonment with hard labour for life. The others were acquitted.
