The news concerning the doings of the strikers is fortunately quiet in all parts of Xow Zealand, and the regular traffic is now resumed by the Union Company's boats. Wo feel sorry for the men who have been so mis-led as to throw up employment that they had held for years, at the dictation of their new leaders, but we are bound to rejoice that the attempted guidance of the trade of the Colony by a small council of labourers has resulted as it has. We earnestly trust that those now unemployed will speedily recognise the false position they have placed themselves in, and accept other work, and thus save further loss and Avorry to themselves. Those who have called them out have shown their weakness, and it is worse than useless to trust to their being able to regain the positions so freely thrown up at their direction. On Saturday about 500 strikers formed a procession in Wellington and marched from the reclamation along the Quay, up Willis and Manners streets and via Cuba street, Ingestre street and Tory street, along Courtenay place, and back to thestartingpoint. The procession was very orderly, and quietly dispersed. The Employers' s Associations of Dunedin and Christchurch have refused to take part in the Premier's conference, which is to meet to-mor-row, as "so long as the boycott remains in force and the principle of working with free labour is denied by the Unionists. When these evils are removed and the demands of the Unions formulated the Association will consider the propriety of sending delegates to attend the Conference in Wellington," ■'."'. ... .
