by the Viceroy under the Coercion Act. May 4. Information has been received by the Admiralty that a terrible cxploplosion occurred on board the British man-of-war Doterel, on April .20, when off Sandy Point, in the Straits of Mngellau, causing the total wreck of the vessel, and great loss of life, only the captain and ten others surviving the disaster. Nothing is known as to the canse of the explosion. . Melbourne, May 8. Both Houses of Parliament reassembled today after tlie recess. In the, Legislative" Council, Sir Charles Sladen made a statement regarding the Reform Bill.
