MANAWATU HIGHWAYS BOARD.
Yesterday. The Board met at its office, Palmerston North, at 11 a.m., yesterday. Present Messrs Dalrymple (Chairman), Bruce, Macpherßon, Fermer, Sookel, and M'Kenzio. MINTJTES. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed . BANKING ACCOUNT. The Chairman said ho had a pleasing statement to make, viz., that there was a credit balance of £101 16s Id at the bank. A. cheque for £8-5 from the County Council had also been received, which would make their total credit balance £186 16s Id. CORRESPONDENCE. Letter read from R. Dove & Co., asking for an advance of £20 on contract for work on Frecklington'sjiue, and stating that 40 chains were completed. Left in the hands of the Engineer. From J. R. Davies, of Kiwitea, asking the Board to olsar a road Hue in that district. Ie was ordered that Mr Davies be informed that ho could clear the road on the usual terms. From the Commissioner of Crown Lands in reference to the Kairanga Block, stating that when the block is offered for sale, arrangements would be made so that purchasers would have full frontage. From the Treasury, replying to the letter of the Chairman in reference to the reducof some £30 in subsidy, and explaining the matter. From Mr P. E. Warburton, asking fbr authority to fall some bush on road line leading to the main Fitzherbertou road, and suggesting that the cost (£2 per acre) be allowed in next year's rates. * Permission given, to be paid when the Ward is in fands; From Mr D. M'iiJwen, stating that he would be unable to attend the meeting of the Board. TENDERS. Only two tenders were acoepted, viz., for work on Wilson's line, Sandon, to the extent of Mo) ; aud for Hadfield's road, Motoa, at a cost of £27 15s. Our usual full report will appear in next issue.
