SAND ON RAILWAY VALUATION.
In glancing over "The District Railways Act Amendment Act, 1878," a day or two ago, we noticed ' the following clause, which we publish, so that any persons who have objections to the San don Eailway district classification may appeal. Clause 36 reads thus : — Any person claiming to be 'injuriously affected by the classification to be made undor this Act may, within two months of the deposit of the plans, appeal in the man-, ncr provided for appeals under " The Hating' Act, 1876," against such classification, on > the ground that such classification's unfair ■ towards hirhse'f *or that othelS' are unduly favored 6y it, and the Appeal Court shall, in all such cases, decide in the nvinner provided in "The Rating .Act, 1876," in the case of appeals against rates. We may remind all objectors that the plans were deposited about the beginning of August, so that the two months within which appeals may be lodged will expire within a few weeks. The Rating Act provides that notice of appeal must be sent to the Resident Magistrate, who is Judge of the Assessment Court, and that if by an appeal a third person is "affected, notice must also be sent to him. The fourth schedule to the Rating Act consists of the form in which objec- . tions are to be made.
