THE SANDON RAILWAY.
. . , We have been requested to draw attention to a notice in another column, signed by Mr Sanson, urging voters to properly fill up and have attested the voting papers, and hand , them in to Messrs Thynne, London, or Gray, who will see tliao they are given to the Keturning officer ' on polling day. This course has been determined on , as th c Directors desire to afford eveiy convenience to voters, in order to ascertain the real state oi public feeling as regards the line. "' We trust every voter in will . carry out the wish of the Directors in this matter. It is desirable that no votes should be lost, as a united wish [ throughout the district will greatly | influence the Government in consent- \ ing or objecting to the line. No doubt there will be some few votes ■ recorded in the district against the railway. We believe, however, the number. will be very, small. The people of Foxton, Carnarvon, and Sandon, cannot shut their eyes to the fact that this railway will greatly assist the development of the terminal townships and of the country between. The rate to be struck cannot be levied until the line is opened for traffic, and such being the case, no settler will be called upon to pay a sixpence until after he has actually received benefit from it in an increased value to his land. We therefore trust all who possess voting power will exercise it on behalf of the railway scheme. We may remind all voters that their votes must be duly attested by a Justice of the Peace or a voter in the railway district. Either of the three gentlemen mentioned in the advertisement will attest voters' signatures, whilst we shall be glad to give further information upon any point connected with i the voting to those who desimit.
