0 TO THE EDITOR OF THE MANAWATU HERALD. " Dont annoy, there's a good boy, Make room for your uncle, dear ! " Sir— Did you see the deputation ? Oh, my, what a sight? Those three little dears, representing the youth and beauty of this famous city, travelling on "the Doctor" ticket. It quite filled my eyea with tears. I had not looked on such a melting sight since 1 last saw my respected pater approaching me with a stout yard of inch-wide leather. 0 tell me who cooked the dinners that day ; or were there any such little things as stockings to darn, children's clothes to mend, and other such jobs generally to be found wanting touching up in a home, on that day. I wonder. And then think of the poor hen-pecked husbands at home. How did they like the exhibition P Humor says not much. I don't believe it. We all know what selfsacrificing creatures wo husbands are, and how much we like our wives to have their own way. But, Sir, there is one thing I do think these "three Graces" did show a breach

of etiquette in. And that is, as both natives and whites are interested in this matter, they ought to have taken an idea from Ihakara, nnd obtained a Maori lady (of course, of sufficient rank) to represent Clio native interest on the deputation. I am, &c, *• Tub Uncle." Foxton, 30th Aprif.
