COMMERCIAL.
London, October 10. Mr Fieemanß. Jackson's London agents, Messrs Johnson & Allsup, report as follows : Wool. — The sales closed hore on the 4th inst. without any revival in the values, and there has, indeed, been a very heavy market for all cross-bred and irregular New Zealand wools, which are in larger supply than ever ; while, on the other hand, there is still fair competition for gocd sound combinsr wools, of even quality, whether washed or in graase. As the Novembor sales will pro* bably contain a still larger proportion of inferior wools, we fear we cannot look for much improvement in prices this year. Merino wools seem likely to be well competed for next season; but for all other wools we fear a low range of values is in prospect for some time to come. Hides ani> Leather. — Heavy hides ontinue to sell well, and are now quoted up t« od I.Bth ; but lights are rather easier at 4d to 4d l-Bth. Leather continues dull of sale, but basils meet a fair demand. Wheat has continued to fall in price, and we hear that fair average New Zealand has been said at 455. Of Flour theie is very little Australian offering, but any large arrival will at once lower the present quotation of 335.
