Liddell, agent. The regular Foxton trader Jane Douglas, Captain Fraser, arrived at the wharf at 5 o'clock on Sunday morning. The Douglas got out of Rangitikei on Friday afternoon, and readied Wellington early on Saturday morning. Discharged about forty bales of wool, and took in cargo for Foxton. The Douglas left Wellington wharf at 7 p.m. in company with the Manawatu, for Wangauui, the steamers leaving the wharf abreast of one another, and a friendly race ensued. Mr Dobbie, engineer of the Douglas, however, put on a spurt, and the Foxton boat gradually drew ahead, and when Mana was reached the Manawatu's light was a Ima way astern. The weather was beautifully fine, and the sea quite calm, so Captain Fraser kept on and arrived off the the bar in time to take it, and thus steamed rivht on from Wellington wharf to Foxlon wharf, arriving as above. The Douglas had a large number of passengers aboard, who all arrived without having experienced the slightest sicklies* on the voyage, which wus like a pleasure trip throughout. The Jane Douglas left again for Wellington yesterday afternoon.
