Wan-gaxfi, November 3
Mr Freeman R. Jacksox reports as follows: — The yards to day were not so well attended as generally, although we had a capital lot of store cattle to offer. The bidding was not so brisk — prices being rather in favor of the buyers, wirh the exception of beef, which maintained its value. Thp cattle passed at tho auction, wore afterwards sold at pricesquoted. The sheep were of medium quality, and light weights. Three pens sold at extreme rates ; the remainder were turned out unsold, although full prices were offered for them. Cattle — 203 head came forward for the day's sale. Fat bullocks made from £9 17s Cd to £' 3 ; store ■teerp, t'G 7s 6d ; two-year-olds, £a ; cow.«, £4 10s to .£5 ; yearling heifers, £4 2s Gd. Sheep — 193 only wcro penned. Fat ewes, Ms; wethers, 17s Cd. Horses — A large number were offered, in the absence of the denlers who had srono to Christchurch, animals were dull of salo. I sold a fair proportion , considering the circumstances. Prices— good hacks, up to 4' 15 ; medium, £6 to £12; weeds and screws as usual. Exports — 7~ horses.
