William Langley, of Otaki, was charged upon the information of Constable Cootes, with having sold on the 21stday of September, ultimo, a glass of brandy to Alfred Lang ; a second information charged defend* ant with having sold upon the same day, to Lang, a glass of beer. Constable Purcell prosecuted for the

Defendant applied for an adjournment of the ca^e, on the ground that he had not had sufficient time to prepare his case.

Tho Bench expressed it 3 willingness to adjourn tho case, provided defendant paid the costs of the adjournment.

Defendant asked that the ease might be adjourned to Otaki, as h-a had twelve witnesses, and the cost of bringing them up was very great. Constable Cootos informed the Bench that no sitting of tho Court would be held at Otaki, until the month of December.

The case therefore stands adjourned until next Wednesday, when it will be hoard before Mr Ward, R.M.
