WHITE'S BAY ROAD.

WORK TO BEGIN,

Subscriptions towards completing the road to White's Bay continue to come in slowly, but it is doubtful if the sum collected on the various lists would amount to much more than one-half of the required £100. The position is that the Government has voted £100 towards this work, on a £1 for £1 basis. The sum of £11)0 is therefore wanted to enable the Government money to be lifted. As the summer season is not far off, when the road will be a boon to all lovers of the seaside, the Progress Committee has decided to guarantee the sum of £100 to the Picton Road Board. A letter to this effect has been written to the Board. It is expected that on receipt of the guarantee at its meeting on August I4th the Board will put the work in hand immediately. In the meantime, the Committee's organiser is collecting the various lists and sums subscribed, and will also receive additional donations towards this muchneeded work, which will* give Blenheim a good motor road to the beach.
