LAND SALE.
MR SNOWMEN'S PROPERTY AT DASHWOOD.
An important land sale- will take place? at Griffiths Broa- r., Ltd. Rooms, High Street on "the 21st insfc., when the firm will offer on behalf of Mr Edgar Snowden his fine property at Dashwood, subdivided into tliree blocks. This fine property was formerly a portion of Ugbrooke Run, and was purchased' at tho Ugbrooke sale by Mr' Campbell. It was acquired by Mr Suowden .about a year ago, but as"-' he has found, it a large block of country- to handle for one man, he* has determined to dispose of it in three separate blocks. The people passing by this property can form -no idea of its real value—to estimate itaatt t all properly one must carefully.inspect .'each paddock, and also the hills at the back.
To show the quality: of the hills it need only be stated that on 36S acres of hill' country Mr Snowden has this winter earned BSO ewes, and these owes are not only in magnificent order, but the feed' on the block is absolutely going to waste. Mr Snowden feels justified.in■ saying that the whole of the hills will carry easily over two sheep to the acre.
As for the flats, although they vary to a. certain, extent, they are undoubtedly good from end to end. No doubt the soakage from the hills assists the ground on the flats. The soil here is aJI rich black loam. Last year off a. sixty acre, block Mr Showden took over 3,tons of chaff to the acre, and the gross return off a. sixty acre paddock was just on £1(500.
Some years ago 80 acres of lucerne was put in, and although it was put in very roughly, it has taken satisfactorily, and consequently proves that this land is splendid lucerne land. These flats merely want a careful inspection by a thoroughly practical man, and the statement that they are equal to any agricultural land in ihe Marlborough province will not be refuted.
Another point makine; the properties particularly desirable, is the fact that there are no less than twelve permanent sprincs on different parts or the property, so that every paddock is absolutely well watered. These springs are guaranteed perivanfnt in th" driest season.
Taking all in all, the properties are most desirable, and as combined agricultural and grazing properties, arc unexcelled in Marlborough.—Advt.
