THE EOLSHEVIK MENACE.
CPbebs Association.}
Australian and N.Z Cable AttsoeiaMot DELHI, April 11. .Representatives of the Afghan Government are on th© ,way to India -with the object of discussing 'questions with the British' authorities at Rawalpindi. i ■ The conference made it perfect]^ dear that tho Amir must show good: faith by actions before the old irmailly relations are resumed. The situation in Afghanistan has feeen obscure for some time. It is unquestionable that Afghan intrigues played an important part in the re<cent frontier fighting: I" The Bolshevik mission is still being entertained .at.Kabul. " l
Jt is difficult to see how any permanent arrangement can be entered into with the representatives of Afghanistan. From a military point of view little is to be feared fro^i Bolshevik threats against India. Afghanistan, however, has an extremely vulnerable frontier, and could not' muster sufficient forces to oppose a Bolshevik advance. Britain's undertaking to protect Afghanistan against foreign ags^ession has lapped', liut India could hardly view a Bdljshevik success with equanimity.
