Columbus, Cleveland, .[Detroit, San Francisco, and Ban Diego indicate that the strike .is -crippling the railway service throughout the whole country. Passenger trains from New York are leaving limirs late. . , The tramways systems in the cities near New York are being affected, and freight movements are uncertain in many part« of the country. The food, supply in many cities is threatened. ■ . : The actual strikers only number iibont 50,0000 (? .5000), but 75.000 railroad workers are _ idle. The strikers are mostly switchmen and £retmen.
