A .GRIEVANCE.

The secretary Avas instructed to write to the Minister for Agriculture and the Nelson A. and P. Association protesting against the t irregularity of that Association's methods for the election of a representative of the NeLson-^Marlborough-Westland district to the New Zealand Council of Agriculture. The correspondence on the matter was ordered to' be handed to the Marlborough A. and P. Association's delegates proceeding to Wellington shortly, with a request that they place the whole matter before the Minister.

The circumstances are as follows: The Nelson A. and P. Association is the metropolitan authority for the Nfe>lsoii-Marlborough-.Westland district, and it is its function to summo.n a meeting of representatives of contemporary authorities in that area to make the appointment to the Council of Agriculture. What it did was to fix the meeting to be held at Nelson on March 24th last, on which occasion, it is understood, an election was conducted; but it was so lato in convening the meeting that the notice did not reach Blenheim till the previous Friday, the local Association thus not having enough* time in which to arrange for its representation. Nelson acted in contradistinction to the regulations, which provide that the notices must be sent out before the 3l&< of January and that the meeting must be held 28 'days after their issue. From the correspondence it was quite apparent that the Department forwarded the necesisary forms in January. THE SCHEDULE.
