ADVANCE IN PALESTINE.

LONDON, April 11. Palestine official: Our troops westward of Tulkeram and Ramleh railway advanced on a five-mile front lj miles in depth, capturing the villages of Elkeff and Rafat. The prisoners included a few Germans. For services culminating in the capture of Jerusalem General Chauvel has been created a Commander of the Bath, and LieutenantColonel C. J. Pottles (New Zealand) a Companion, of St. Michael and St. George.
Awards of Distinguished 'Service Orders have been made to the following New Zealanders:—Captain R. P. Harper (Military Cross), Lieut. A. Hall (Wellington Rifles), Lieut. M. E. Johnston (Auckland Rifles;, Lieut. R. Mackenzie (Camel Corps), and Lieut. R. T. Patrick (Engineers).
