The Admiralty reports: At 'about half-past four o'clock this morning a craiser-squadron, accompanied by light cruisers and destroyers, appeared off Lowestoft. The local naval forces engaged it for twenty minutes, when the hostile fleet returned towards^ Germ any, chased by light cruisers and destroyers.

A man and a woman were killed ashore, but the material damage was insignificant. Two British cruisers and destroyers were hit, but none were sunk
