DECLARATION' BY BEDOUINS.
LOYALTY.TO. THE BRITISH
The Cairo An'ram .publishes-'---the following declaration, which it has received from the Bedouins, of the Libyan Desert, who come within the Egyptian sphere of government: — "We were in ..sympathy with the Bedouins of Tripoli wlten they were at war with others and afc peace with us. Wo furnished-them with provisions arid amis. ' There is no longer any reason for this sympathy since Lhose wi>om lwe aided' and protected have revolted against iis, by attacking the British forces at Matruh. ' For these forces by dof ending. .Egypt are protecting; our lives and «mr property. - "The essential thing for v«s> is the independence and prosperity ,of Egypt. "We are among the. first to protect it, and that is Why "we"'have obtained on;: prerogatives. "What interest should we have to help the assailants? The /.rates of Kgypl were open to them, but they closed them ity their own actions, and they have placed themselves between the" Italian <ire on the const and that of the -Egyptian forces. It is a. people which has sold itself through ignorance. But wo are far-seeing enough r.ot to aid it in its unfos-tunate action.
