Dr Schottj director of the Hamburg Observatory! describes the elles and Bosphorus as a joint or bridgehead in the great international route of the future—namely, the Berlin, Vienna Constantinople, Bagdad Railway, Persian Gulf, and Indian Ocean route. To secure its being permanently open is vital to the Central Powers.
