The Daily News says that _ Lord Beresford presided at a, meeting ot .Unionists with the object of founding a National party under Sir Edward Carson's leadership. A number ot Members of both sides of the House of Commons have been approached. The newspaper hints that Sir Henry .Dalziel and Sir Arthur Markham approve of the movement. The. Morning Post, which has been advocating a National party, publishes a letter from Sir A. Markham in favor of the movement, which includes closer political union, ji zollverein embracing the Empire and the Allies, and a vigorous social reform policy. Sir Arthur declares that Britain cannot revert to old fiscal feuds in the face of the wonderful faith of the Australians, New Zealanders, and Canadians in the land of their forefathers and their heroism on the battlefield.
