SPEEDING UP.
A NOBLE AND HOLY CAUSE
(Received Aug. 31, 0.30 a.m.) PRETORIA, Aug. 30
General Smuts, addressing the Transvaal recruits for the overseas contingent at Potchefstroom, said that they were going to fight for a noble and holy cause. It was no campaign of revenge, but for the cause of freedom and liberty—a cause which was always reckoned the greatest in the world's history. He hoped that many more South Africans would come forward and help to secure victory.
