CONSCRIPTION- NOT THOUGHT
AUCKLAND, Aug. 30
Speaking on the subject of the National Register, in reply to views .expressed by the Hon. Mr Hvrhe-s, Federal Attorney-General, the Minister for Defence said:. "We hnve nn idea of conscrintion in our minds, ami I hope we shall never give it a. thought. The purpose of registration is to ascertain the resources of the Dominion, and I certainly think it should include women. We want to know how many unmarried men between the ages of 20 and 40 have not enlisted, and how many have volunteered but have not been able to comply with th© regulations."
