"80-PEEP^ PANTOMIME
TO-NIGHT
The Royal Pantomime Go. will open its season ,at His Majesty's Theatre to-night. A contemporary in the north, referring to the performance of "80-Peep," said that "merrimeait reigned throughout the evening, there were no d,ull. moments, and the applause was hearty.; Widow Bumpkin, in the person of Mr Bruce Drysdale, was ihe chief fun-maker. Miss Mack, as Jack Straw, was also very successful, and1 was loudly* applauded for her clever exhibition of baton swinging. The unique acrobatic turn by the Anderson trio,, which alone was worth going to see, was also, appreciatively received. The pantomime throughout is threaded with1 beautiful ballets. Particularly effective was the floral ballet, and another dance that appealed to the, audience was a stately gavotte, in which the dancers were dressed in the dainty costumes of the powder and patches period. The pantomime is accompanied by bright and sparkling music,. arid the oxcellent chorus work is a feature of the entertainment, 'Shady Lane' and 'My 80-Peep' being particularly . catchy numbers. The 'costuming is handsome, and the scenery and mechaaiical effect* are very fine." On Wednes.day night another successful pantomime will be produced, "Old Mother Hubbard." The box plan is rapidly filling at Oartwright's.
