SPEECH ON DEFENCE
[press association.! (Received April 30, 10.45 p.m.) QUEBEC, April 30. v The Hon. Mr Allen had a splendid reception. He lunched at the Canadian Club, the LieutenantGovernor and the Mayor being preseait.
In a stirring speech on defence Mr Allen stated that New Zealand would place tho question, above party. Discussing Empire defence in the Pacific, h& asked whether Canada was going to stand by New Zealand and Australia in the endeavor to solve the problem. The question mast be answered sootier or later.
