The infuriated assailant followed, ; and fired six shots at random. The; people in the cafe were thrown into a panic, and dived for shelter under { the chairs and tables. The landlord |! Dluckily tackled the intruder, but was shot diead. while several of the cus- j tomers who were hiding under the i tables were wounded. s

The murderer then decamped, but was immediately followed by the enraged customers and a large crowd which had been attracted by the shots. The man was caught, and the crowd was about to lynch him when the police arrived and saved him from a summary fate.
