WAIRAU ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of ihe Wairau Road Board which is usually '+ WJF ld- last Thursday, owing to the Anniversary Day holiday on Friday. The appearance of a report of the, proceedings is necessarily belated, as this journal was not informed or the altered date of the meeting;. The following "members! were present: Messrs 'E': F. Goulter (chairman), H. Hammond, j\ Bell G Boyce and C. G. Teschemakeibnute. Mr W. Adams was granted leave of absence. i ROAD BOARDS. I A circular was received relative to the. abolition of road boards. Mr Boyce moved that no" action be taken with regard to the request to sign a petition to tire- Minister! tor Internal Affairs to leave road bo.ards m the Dominion undisturbed. The Chairman seconded the motion. Mr Hammond moved an amendment. Mr Teschemaker-Shtite seconding, that this Board sign the circular i and forward it as required* .' The amendment was carried, and becoming the motion was also carried, Messrs Boyce and Goulter dissenting, on both occasions. GENERAL. Repairs recommended by the Inspector in the?course of his report were authorised to bo carried out. It was resolved that as many members as possible attend the conference of the local bodies to be held on the 16th inst., respecting the erection of ths Grove Road Opawa ' bridge. Accounts were passed for payment, and after granting the Inspector an increase in salary the Board rose.
