MULAI HAFID.
THE FRENCH PROCLAMATION.
[i-BESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received April 26, 8.50 p.m.) TANGIER, April 26. The Uledjumma tribe on the 17th. offered to join Mulai Hand if their Governor were changed. The offer was rejected, hence the fierce attack on the 19th. The acceptance of the offer would have enabled Major Bremond to traverse their territory and enter Fez.
General Monier, in a proclamation to the tribes, states that Franc© does not intend to occupy fresh, territories, but only wishes to support the Shereefian army in order to relieve foreigners in danger and to reestablish order under the Sultana authority. If the rebellion ceases France will stay the march of her troops, otherwise the troops will be forced to pacify the country and severely punish the authors of the disturbances.
