RECIPROCITY.

ITS BEARING UPON ANNEXATION.

A VEHICLE FOR TRUSTS IF RATIFIED.

[press association.] (Received March 21, 0.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, March 20. Sir William Lyne, after discussing the Canadian-American reciprocity arrangements with the business men of Canada, icturns with the conviction that if the agreement is ratified by the Dominion Canada will be annexed by the United States within eight or ten years, and the British Empire will then begin to disintegrate. He attributes, the reciprocity negotiations:*:to.. thf. failure of the British Government in 1907 to make a preferential treaty with the self-governing Dominions. The Americans must be met. Their minds were on the absorption of Canada. Reciprocal trade would allow the American Trusts and Combines to spread through Canada. He was glad to see that there was a growing feeling in Canada against the treaty, and lie'thinks the people have more sense than to. ratify it.
