[rBESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received March 18, 7.65 a.m.) SYDNEY, March 18The heats for the Parramatta Hundred were rowed to-day. lie first heat was won by Ripley, Ifleo. Towns second, G. Day third. The second heat resulted: N- Towns 1 W. West 2, S. McLean 3. ' 'Third heat: F. Hagney 1, V. Simpson 2, B. Paddon 3. Dick Arnst started in this heat. • Fourth heat:, W. Fogwell 1, F. Matterson 2, 0. Matterson 3. In the second heat J. Arnstwas one of /the starters, and the starters in the third heat included R. Artist and Tom Lawson (the Sfelson sculler).

DETAILS. The weather was fine for the heats of the Parramatta, Hundred. There was a rising tide experienced.. <■_ In the first heat Rrpley had &* seconds start. Theo. Towns 48, and Day 18. Ripley was never overhauled and won a good race by a

In the second heat Norman Towns had 44 seconds, W. West 78. and McLean 75. Towns gradually forged through and won by two, lengths.. There was a,great finish,between the other placed men, J. Arnst pushing Motiean hard for third place. . ' _' In the third heat Hagney had 18 seconds, Simpson 70, and Paddon 45., "The presence of R. Arnst and other cracks, including Messenger, was an additional interest. Hagney had a ■good start and overhauled the limit man at Tennyson, T. Lawsori (60secs.) lying fourth. Arnst (scratch) with Messenger (32 sees.) were together well in the rear at Cabariba. Arnst retired, despite many requests to finish fke course. Hagney, finishing w;ell, won by four lengths. Lawson w;as fourth and Messenger in the riick.

In the fourth heat Fogwell had 18 seconds, F. Matterson 40. and C. Matterson 75. Fogwell steadily made his way to the front and took charge at Tennyson, where he jumped away, finishing ttvo lengths to the good, Kemp fourth. Arnst's defeat Has robbed the final on Satprday of a good deal of interest.-- • ;
