At last week's meeting of the Victoria College Council the Finance Committee reported that the new wine of the college had been completed at a cost of £3046 16s lid. At the same time the comittee drew the attention of the council to the fact that at present a. sum of £773 9s 6d has been received in subscriptions towards the building. Unless the remainder of the £1000 was collected the council would have to pay some £600 out of its ordinary revenue. The chairman observed that a certain amount had been promised, but so far there had not been sufficient performance, and if no more came in it wonkl metfti that their deficiency would be over £700. This endangered the subsidy. Every £1 received equalled £3 to the funds. After a desultory discussion in which the secretary announced that an annonymous donor had contributed £60, it was agreed that people who had promised donations should be again approached for the cash.
