THE EIGHT HOURS BILL.

LONDON, Jan. 3. Mr Richard Bell has resigned the general secretaryship of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, which recorded sincere thanks for his great and valuable services.

The operation of the Eight Hours Bill in the Northumberland collieries evoked some dissatisfaction regarding the shift system. Ten thousand miners are idle there, and 5000 at the Durham pits.
