The Wairarapa Racing Club's meeting was commenced on Saturday, with the following results :— Maiden Hack: Pukewai 1, Manaia 2, Palestine 3. The winner led all the way.
Tutarata Handicap: Boanerges 1, Splash 2, Waiata 3. Won easily by a length.
Rimutaka Hack: Cbauvelin 1, Happy New Year 2, Lucretius 3. A fine raoe.
Cup: Ringdove 1, Merrivonia 2, Merrie Zealand 3. Also started: Mojoeh, Tumnt, Miscast, ; Mataari, Truganini, No Trumps and Gold Bird. A desperate finish. Won by half a head. Nursery Handicap: Killiloo 1, Gloss 2, Longstep 3. The winner was never headed. • Pukio Hack: Warlock 1, Merrie Land 2, First Battery 3. Reynolds Handicap: Full Rate • 1 Sunbonnet 2,'Thera 3, . Moki Hack: Waxy 1, Hilarian 2,-; Epsom Downs 3: Won by-two lengths. The sum of £8311 was put through the totalisator.
