NOTES BY "SPECTATOR."
The whole of the Marlborough representatives, with the exception of R. Forbes, J. O'Brien and F. Sowman, have come into town, and these will be in by to-night. The respective members of the team have been training hard all the week, and will be fit to play the game of their lives on Saturday next.
A practice match was arranged for the pride of Marlborough's toeballer's yesterday/ and they were pitted against nineteen others, and some fine handling of the ball was witnessed. The representative players put up a score of between 70 and 80 points to their opponents' five, the big score being exclusive of any goal-kicking, which was not attempted, the men being eager to get all the fast work possible. The forwards and backs alike were in their element, and it was a treat to see the ball thrown about amongst forwards and backs alike.
The Buller team played a return match against Nelson yesterday, winning by 11 points to nil.
