A PLUCKY CHILD.

The courageous action of Ethel Cooper, aged 11 years, was the means of averting the drowning of the five-year-old daughter of A. Bremner, t<rf Northam (W.A.) last week. The child fell off some planking into a weir 6ft>. <leep ; Ethel Cooper.jumped after her, and ' grasping 'her as she rose the second time told her to put her arms round her neck. The little one did as she was told, and her rescuer clambered along the woodwork and got the child out without further assistance
